We are excited to introduce our newest session horse! Quinn is a red Appendix Quarter horse, meaning he’s part quarter horse and part thoroughbred. He will turn four on March 18, 2018. After being rescued and raised by a similar ministry (Stormhaven Youth Ranch in Kentucky), he was trained by Tiffany Rowe, 3-Star Parelli Professional, […]
by Elisha McCulloh You want me to do what?! This was often my initial reaction when Tiffany Rowe, Parelli Professional, gave instructions during horsemanship workshops. Jump? Over that? On a horse I hardly know? Or, Canter? Now? Bareback?! But each time, I did as instructed. And I survived. It was never pretty, and that never […]
by Elisha & Rodney McCulloh The passing of an old friend Like much of the country, we’ve had a long, snowy, bone chillingly cold winter here at Achaius Ranch. The herd has made it through in excellent health with the exception of poor old Scooter who, at the ripe old age of 33, lost his […]
by Faith D* When I first signed up for Achaius sessions, I didn’t know what all we would be doing. I was nervous about riding, because I had never really been that close to a horse before. At first, I mostly just groomed and bathed the horses, but after a while, I wanted to branch […]
by Elisha McCulloh What a wonderful first season we’ve had in 2013! Over 100 people visited the ranch, with more than 20 participating in 75 sessions in our youth program. Here are some pictures from our sessions. (More text follows – sorry if it’s too many pictures; we just had so many good ones […]
Written by Nicole Wilson Earlier this month we had a workday to prepare for Cornstock 2012. We had a great group of volunteers out, including some strong guys from Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at Wabash college!
Written by Nicole Wilson As many of you may know, my husband and I built a house on the ranch to live in. Since I’m the ranch manager, this makes it so much easier to do the daily chores, horse training, etc. that I’m responsible for. We actually had the house built off site by […]

We had a wonderful turnout of volunteers and made some great new friends! Here is a picture summary of the two days, […]
A couple of unpredicted, but much needed rain showers blessed Achaius Ranch recently. We were especially delighted by a beautiful double rainbow just before sunset on Saturday! One of the two parts was completely visible for awhile, with the second bow rather faint.
Summer is quickly approaching and we’re eager to open the gates for children and their families to visit, help out, learn, and play at Achaius Ranch! We hope to start offering sessions in late June. (For information about our sessions, please visit our General Info page.)
