Harmony Program Moving Forward

We are delighted to announce that Achaius Ranch has been awarded a $25,000 grant* from the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF)! This grant provides operating support to compensate for the effects of COVID-19 so that our Harmony Program may continue in 2022.

The Harmony Program is designed to address mental health and general wellness needs in our community, building resiliency in the face of diversity while sharing the love and healing power of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. The need for such services in our community has increased significantly over the past two years.

In the summer of 2021, we incorporated new Harmony activities into our youth program. These activities included music, rhythm & dance, drama, team-building, various nature-based adventures, and a message of Good News, in addition to our equine activities.

Susan Belt, our Harmony Program facilitator (aka “Adventure Guide”), holds a M.S. degree in Outdoor Recreation Resource Management with focus on Social and Emotional Learning through outdoor adventure therapy, from Indiana University.

Plans are in the works for our Harmony Program in 2022, such as making adjustments and improvements to our already popular and successful summer youth program, in order to more specifically promote healing and growth.

Since the first season of our programs in 2013, we have been able to offer all services free of charge to all participants. As our services expand to meet the growing needs of our community, we continue to strive to make our services accessible to all. This has been made possible by the grace of God, through grants and donations. As we move forward, we realize that additional funding sources will be needed.
